Ben Biello Named Regis Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College Dean of Athletics Pam Roecker has announced that Ben Biello will become the head coach of the Pride cross country and track and field program, effective August 21, 2024.
Biello has been the head coach of the Lasell University cross country and track and field teams, starting on an interim basis in March 2022 before becoming the permanent head coach in June 2022. Biello dedicated his time to building not only the roster up to a competitive level, but also a sustainable and lasting team culture.
In 2023, the Lasell women's cross country team finished fourth at the GNAC Championships, the program's highest conference finish in 20 years, while the men's squad earned its best league finish in seven years by landing in fifth place. During his tenure, the Laser track and field teams combined for 34 school records, over 250 all-time top 10 performances, and 16 individual and relay conference champions.
"We are extremely excited about the addition of Ben Biello as our cross country and track and field head coach. Coach Biello brings a tremendous level of professionalism and enthusiasm, along with great technical skill, and familiarity with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference," Roecker said. "As a former GNAC student-athlete, Coach Biello knows the challenges our team members face, and he possesses a great perspective on how to successfully build upon our culture of being a competitive athlete while prioritizing academics. In short, he is going to be a great fit for our program and the leader that can continue to build upon our established success."
Biello was a four-year letterwinner on the Lasell track and field team from 2017 to 2021 and is ninth on the Laser all-time outdoor performance list in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. After graduation, he remained at Lasell as an assistant coach from September 2021 to February 2022 before taking over the head coaching position.
"I am extremely excited and honored to be named the Head Coach at Regis College! I want to thank Pam Roecker, the athletics administration, and those involved in the coaching search. I am confident I am joining a program with a robust history of success - both on and off the course and track. I'm excited to continue that success established by the coaches before me," said Biello. "I've experienced firsthand the great level of support, camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community there is at Regis within the team, department, and institution. It's exciting that I now get to become a part of that exceptional Pride team. I can't wait to lead this amazing group of student-athletes to our shared vision for the future of this program!"
Biello graduated summa cum laude from Lasell University in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in entrepreneurship, plus he minored in coaching and accounting. He earned Lasell's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in 2021 and was a three-time Academic All-GNAC honoree.
Biello replaces Ben Colello, who moved on to become the associate head coach within the Tufts University track and field program.
Regis College sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
