Regis Student-Athletes Honored At 2018 Athletics Awards Ceremony
Regis (Mass.) Athletics held its annual awards banquet Thursday, Apr. 26 honoring Regis student-athletes for their athletic and academic achievements over the past year.

WESTON, Mass. – Regis (Mass.) Athletics held its annual awards banquet Thursday, Apr. 26 honoring Regis student-athletes for their athletic and academic achievements over the past year. The event was held at the Casey Theater in the Fine Arts Center on the Regis College campus.
Maresa Malcolm and Fred Mathieu were awarded the highest honor in winning the Female and Male Regis-Casserly Awards. The Award is in honor of one of the founders of Regis, Sister Mary Regis Casserly. The recipient of the Award must excel not only in athletics, but also must show evidence of academic excellence by maintaining an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and must be involved in the life of the university showing excellence in leadership and service.
The awards were presented by Regis President Dr. Antoinette M. Hays.
Other major awards included the Senior Scholar Athlete Awards, given to a male and female senior student-athlete who has committed him or herself academically as well as athletically. The female award recipient was women's basketball’s Brittany Stone while men’s swimmer Nick Rainville won the male award.
The evening also included a new initiative by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The inaugural SAAC Pride Awards, nicknamed the “Reggies” were handed out in the categories of Best Record Breaking Performance, Best Overtime Win, Best Championship or Playoff Performance and Best Comeback. The nominations were submitted to SAAC prior to the event and with the winners voted on by the student-athletes
The evening concluded with a season in review video by Regis Sports Information and closing remarks from Dean of Athletics Pam Roecker.
