ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Conference handed out its men's tennis postseason awards on Monday with Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) voted NECC Player of the Year, Gabriel Montealegre (Managua, Nicaragua) Rookie of the Year and head coach John Ciarleglio Coach of the Year. Regis won all three major awards for the first time since joining the NECC in 2011.
The honors come one day after the Pride topped Becker in the NECC Tournament championship for its fifth straight league title. Harrow was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
The Pride was not without a host of other honorees. Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) was named first-team singles and, with partner Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine), first-team doubles. Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) earned a first-team singles nod.
Harrow ran the table in conference matches en route winning player of the year honors for the second time. He went 3-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles playing every match on the No. 1 court. Harrow was also named first-team all-conference singles and doubles for the third time in his career.
Montealegre, Harrow's first-team all-league doubles partner, becomes the third Pride player in four seasons to win NECC Rookie of the Year. Montealegre joined Regis this spring and recorded sweeps in both his singles contests and went 5-0 with Harrow in doubles play.
Ciarleglio was named coach of the year for the second time after earning the honor in 2013. Regis finished the regular season with a perfect mark for the fourth straight season with Ciarleglio finishing his NECC run with a 53-1 league mark.
