PRIDE CRUISE TO 15-3 WIN OVER EMERSON

BOSTON, Mass.Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) and Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) scored four goals apiece as Regis College rolled to a 15-3 victory over Emerson College in men's lacrosse action on Tuesday night. The Pride have now won five-straight games to improve to 6-2 on the year, while the Lions fall to 1-6.

The Pride scored all three goals in the opening quarter with Leighton and Rodrigo scoring their first goals of the game, while Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) also scored in the period. Leighton opened the second quarter with a man-up tally, before Billy Stewart (West Roxbury, Mass.) added a man-advantage goal of his own. Emerson finally got on the board near the end of the period as Greg Aurbach scored on a feed from Nicholas Kitsos to enter the half trailing 5-1.

Ferran and Matt Vogan (Billerica, Mass.) gave the Pride a 7-1 lead to start the second half, before Emerson's Eric Colleran answered for the Lions. Leighton scored his third goal of the game with an assist for Billy Stewart nearly two minutes later, and Emerson's Kitsos rounded out the scoring for the home team with 4:23 to play in the third quarter. Vogan's second goal of the period and another Rodrigo tally gave the Pride a 10-3 lead headed into the final 15 minutes.

The fourth quarter was all Regis as the Crimson and Gold scored all five goals in the period. Andrew O'Reilly (Hollis, N.H.) and Peter Fucci (Amherst, N.H.) each scored, while Rodrigo had a pair to go with Leighton's fourth goal on the night.

Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) made 10 saves en route to his fifth win of the season. Jack O'Brien (Milton, Mass.) had another strong day in the face-off circle, winning 15-of-19 draws to go with six groundballs. Mike Emanuelson (Silver Lake, N.H.) scooped up a team-high seven groundballs. Billy Stewart ended the night with five assists.

The Pride begin New England Collegiate Conference play on Saturday afternoon when Regis travels to Mitchell for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
